CBN BOOKS SEVERAL CASES AGAINST DRUG MAFIA

CBN (Central Bureau of Narcotics) headquartered Gwalior has booked several cases recently against Drug Mafia after aggressive action against illicit movement in narcotic drug. Some of the cases booked are as under:

On 09th January 2009, a preventive team from the Office of Dy. Narcotics Commissioner, CBN, Lucknow seized 0.270 kgs of Heroin at Badel Tiraha, Barabanki District (U.P.) and arrested two ladies under NDPS Act, 1985 and have been sent to judicial custody.

On 12th January 2009, a preventive team of CBN, Lucknow raided a house in Barabanki District (U.P.) and seized 54.900 kgs of Acetic Anhydride. One person involved has been arrested u/s 9A & 25A of the NDPS Act, 1985 and sent to judicial custody. Further investigation is in progress. This seizure was effected during the course of investigation and follow up action in the earlier seizure of 207.320 kgs of Acetic Anhydride on 10th December 2008.

On 28th January 2009, a preventive party from the office of the Deputy Narcotics Commissioner, CBN, Neemuch seized 2.100 kgs of Opium from a bus plying between Ratlam to Beawar at

and arrested two persons u/s 8/18 of NDPS Act, 1985.

On 07th February 2009, a preventive team from the Headquarters Office of CBN, Gwalior intercepted a bus during preventive checking and seized 14.500 kgs of Ganja (Cannabis) from the possession of two persons travelling in a bus at Agra-Mumbai Road Near village Nayagaon, District Gwalior. Further follow up led to recovery of approx one lac Rupees and 50 grams of Ganja from the residence of the accused.

On 11th February 2009, a preventive team of CBN, Chittorgarh seized 3.400 kgs of contraband Opium from the possession of one person at Medi-Kheda Railway Level Crossing in Gangrar District (Rajasthan). The person involved was arrested under NDPS Act, 1985. .

In view of the ongoing Opium Weighment Operation being conducted by the Central Bureau of Narcotics from 04th April 2009, intensive preventive activities are being undertaken by the department so that the licit produce of the Cultivators do not get diverted in any way. The vigilance on part of the department has stepped up seizures of drugs in last few weeks. Some important cases booked by CBN in recent days are as under.

On 20.03.2009, on the basis of a secret information, a preventive party of Preventive and Intelligence Cell, Garoth, Distt. Mandsaur has effected a seizure of 0.500 Kgs of Heroin at Bus Stand, Shyamgarh, Distt. Mandsaur and five persons have been arrested.

On 23.03.2009, on the basis of a secret information, a preventive party of Preventive and Intelligence Cell, Jaora, Distt. Mandsaur has effected a seizure of 2.650 Kgs of Opium at Bus Stand, Jaora, Distt. Mandsaur and arrested two persons along with a Hero Honda Motorcycle which has also been seized.

On 25.03.2009, a preventive party of O/o the Deputy Narcotics Commissioner, Neemuch during general checking of suspected vehicles intercepted a Bolero Jeep and effected a seizure of 372.300 Kgs of Poppy Straw at Palcha Tiraha, Kanera- Vijaypur road, Distt. Chittorgarh and arrested one person. The said Bolero Jeep has also been seized.

On 27.03.2009, a preventive party of Preventive and Intelligence Cell, Ratlam during general checking of suspected vehicles effected a seizure of 38.000 Kgs of Poppy Straw from a bus plying between Mandsaur and Indore in front of Ranisingh Petrol Pump, Sejawata, Jaora-Ratlam road and arrested one person.

On 27.03.2009, a preventive party of O/o the Deputy Narcotics Commissioner, Neemuch during general checking of suspected vehicles intercepted a Maruti Van and effected a seizure of 237.300 Kgs of Poppy Straw near Sushila Nagar gate, Arnoda road, J.K.Mangrol, Teh. and P.S. Nimbahera, Distt. Chittorgarh. The said Maruti Van has also been seized.

On 07.04.2009, a preventive party formed by the Narcotics Commissioner, Gwalior with Dog Squad was deployed at Chittorgarh (Raj.) to conduct checking of suspected vehicles on sensitive routes. During the course of checking, a preventive party intercepted a Bolaro Jeep No. RJ05/U-0225 at Gangrar Toll Tax Barrier, Chittorgarh (Raj.). Three persons were found traveling in the said Jeep. Search of the said vehicle was undertaken jointly by the Officials of CBN and Income Tax Department, Udaipu on reasonable suspicion of Contraband drugs/ Silver Ornaments being concealed in it. The search led to a recovery of:

Silver Payal (66 packets) weighing 607.28 Kgs valued at Rs. 47,76,905/-

Misc. Gold Ornaments (1 packet) weighing 83 grams valued at Rs. 90,885/-

kept concealed in specially made secret cavities in the body of the vehicle.

On 08.04.2009, on the basis of a secret information, a preventive party of O/o Deputy Narcotics Commissioner, Kota has effected a seizure of 2.560 Kgs of Opium at Bus Stand, Rawat Bhata, Kota and arrested one person.

On 08.04.2009, a preventive party of O/o the Deputy Narcotics Commissioner, Neemuch during the course of general checking of suspected vehicles intercepted a bus plying between Pratapgarh to Jodhpur at Sagwadia Chauraha, Chottisadri- Nimbahera road, District Chittorgarh and effected a seizure of 1.600 Kgs of Opium from the possession of a person who has been arrested.

On 12.04.2009, a preventive party formed by the Narcotics Commissioner, Gwalior with Dog Squad intercepted a bus plying between Mandsaur and New Delhi at Gangrar Toll Naka, Chittorgarh- Bhilwara road and recovered 4.100 Kgs of Opium from the possession of a person who was subsequently arrested.

On 12.04.2009, a preventive party formed by the Narcotics Commissioner, Gwalior with Dog Squad intercepted a bus plying between Nimbahera and Jodhpur at Gangrar Toll Naka, Chittorgarh- Bhilwara road and recovered 0.450 Kgs of Opium from the possession of a person who was subsequently arrested.

On 12.04.2009, a preventive party of Garoth Preventive & Intelligence Cell, CBN intercepted two persons on a motocycle in front of Hanuman Mandir, Petrol Pump Chouraha, Suwasara, P.S. Suwasara, District Mandsaur (M.P.) and recovered 21.500 kgs of Opium kept in cartoon of Deshi Ghee. Both the persons were subsequently arrested under the NDPS Act.
