Customs duty on petro products lowered by 5 per cent

AIT News Network

The Government has notified across the board cut in import duty on oil and has lowered the Customs duty on import of all petroleum products falling under Customs Tariff Heading No. 2710, 2711, 2712, 2713, 2714 or 2715 from 10 per cent to 5 per cent vide Customs Tariff Notification No.74/2008 dated 4^th June 2008.
Further, the Customs duty on import of Petrol and Diesel has also been lowered from 7.5 per cent to 2.5 per cent.
Central Excise duty on Petrol and HSD has also been lowered vide Central Excise Tariff Notification No.30
Government has also hiked the price of Petrol by Rs 5 per litre and of Diesel by Rs 3 per litre effective from midnight of 4^th June 2008.
As a jolt to Housewives, the prices of LPG Cylinders have also been hiked by Rs 50 Per Cylinder.
